In Coventry Local Schools, curriculum guides serve as a reference point for identifying the skills, knowledge, and information students are taught and assessed on throughout the course of the school year. The guides are developed based on Ohio's Learning Standards, as they relate to the four core content areas; English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
Power Verbs: Power Verbs are found within the context of the standards and/or clear learning targets. These are the verbs most often used on standardized tests. Often times these verbs can be used in several situations and subject areas. It is very important that students are familiar with the meaning of these words, but also familiar with how to apply these words in the different content areas.
Vocabulary Focus: The Vocabulary Focus column identifies the key terms within each indicator or clear learning target. These terms are typically unfamiliar to the students.
Clear Learning Targets: CLT's are clarifying statements that help explain the fine points or the learning goals of the standards.
