COVENTRY LOCAL SCHOOLS CURRICULUM GUIDES

In Coventry Local Schools, curriculum guides serve as a reference point for identifying the skills, knowledge, and information students are taught and assessed on throughout the course of the school year. The guides are developed based on Ohio’s state adopted standards and indicators, as they relate to the four core content areas; English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.
The following key should help you navigate through the curriculum guides.
Key:
CLT – ID = Clear Learning Target Identification: Each indicator or learning target is marked by a unique code (CLT-ID). This code allows us to quickly look up or reference each indicator.

Underlined & Bolded Indicator
Identifies the Priority indicators based on Coventry testing trends and data analysis.(These indicators are Coventry specific)
Yellow Highlights
Identifies Power indicators based on research provided by the
International Center for Leadership in Education. 
Pink Highlights
Identifies Secondary indicators based on research provided by the
International Center for Leadership in Education. 
Non-marked Indicators
Identifies those indicators that are still taught, but do not require as much attention as the Power, Priority and Secondary indicators.   
 
Clear Learning Target = The Clear Learning Targets are the state’s indicators. Each indicator outlines the information the students are expected to know, understand, and demonstrate within that given subject area.    
Power Verbs =  Power Verbs are found within the context of the clear learning targets. These are the verbs most often used on standardized tests. Often times these verbs can be used in several situations and subject areas. It is very important that students are familiar with the meaning of these words, but also familiar with how to apply these words in the different content areas. 
Vocabulary Focus = The Vocabulary Focus column identifies the key terms within each indicator or clear learning target. These terms are typically unfamiliar to the students. 
Translations = The translations are clarifying statements that help explain the fine points or the learning goals of the clear learning targets.
