Currently, there are over 50,000 ELLs (English Language Learners) in Ohio's public school systems. These students are learning both English and academic content in their K-12 classrooms.
As the District ESL Instructor, I work with students, parents, teachers and administrators in these grades to monitor compliance with state and federal laws as they apply to ELLs. I use research based practices to ensure the success of the ELLs in our school district.
Our District goal is to provide high-quality instruction with appropriate modifications and expectations to ensure that ELLs develop the second language skills necessary to succeed academically and socially in the United States.
