Welcome to Mr. Schenz's Home Page!!

This is my second year as the principal at Lakeview Elementary. I have been in the Coventry Local Schools for 12 years. I spent 5 years as a math teacher at Erwine Middle School, 2 years as the Athletic Director at Coventry High School and 4 years as the assistant principal at Coventry Junior High School. I have been involved in many athletics here at Coventry as well. I coached baseball for 9 years, 7 of those as the Head Varsity Coach. Also, I have coached basketball here for 8 years and 1 of those as the Head Varsity Boys coach. I truly enjoy the family atmosphere here in the Coventry School District and look forward to many great years here at Lakeview!

yearbooks

Yearbooks are currently for sale through your child's homeroom teachers.

Yearbooks are being done this year by Ohio School Pictures. This is the same company that completed our students pictures this year. This is our first year using this company and believe that we have formed a wonderful partnership.

The yearbooks this year will be all in color. They cost $14. We are hoping to have ALL orders in by Friday February 25th.
Please contact either your child's homeroom teacher or the office if you have any questions, concerns over ordering a yearbook.

little dribblers

Our Little Dribblers program is coming to an end soon. The past six weeks have flown by and the students have shown leaps and bounds of growth in their basketball skills and growth as young men and women!

There are a few exciting things now coming up for the end of our Little Dribblers group. This will all be going on next week. First on Wednesday 12/15, our group will travel to the Junior High School during our lunch time from 11:30 - 12:30 to participate in a practice run through of what our performance will look like during the varsity games. Please look for a permission slip coming home with your child to allow them to ride the bus to the Jr. High that day to practice. That will need to be returned by Wednesday morning the 15th.

Then that evening of 12/15 will be our first performance at 1/2 time of the Varsity Girls Basketball game. Following that night, we will be performing for the second and final time on Friday 12/17 at halftime of the Varsity Boys Basketball game. Both of those varsity games begin at 7:30 and we ask that the Little Dribblers arrive by 7:30. We have sent home an instructional letter with a form to order tickets for that night with the Little Dribblers. If you have not received that, please call Mr. Schenz in the office for another copy. All ticket orders need to be in by Tuesday 12/14. Tickets are $4 if ordered in advance and $6 if you wait till the evening of the game. Little Dribblers are admitted free but everyone else will need a ticket so it is worthwhile to order the cheaper pre-sale ticket.

Thanks for your cooperation in making this such a worthwhile program for our students!

Character!

Lakeview Elementary is built on great character. Our students are taught and held accountable for constantly displaying tremendous character. Each of our students should be able to tell you the 6 pillars of character...

  1. Trustworthiness
  2. Respect
  3. Responsibility
  4. Fairness
  5. Caring
  6. Citizenship

There are many ways that our students get recognized for displaying good character. First we have a "Wall of Character" outside our main office. Students' names are put on a star on that wall when they are caught displaying traits of character. Also, monthly our teachers nominate one student from each homeroom that model the character trait of that month. Their picture is then displayed on a "Great Character Hangs Out at Lakeview" bulleting board. Also, we recognize one student a month from Lakeview as our "Star Student Acheiver" and that person gets recognized at the monthly School Board Meeting. We are constantly promoting and encouraging everyone to act with great character and believe that all students and staff at Lakeview are models of good character.
