The Coventry Local Schools are
located south of Akron, Ohio in the Portage Lakes area of Summit County.
The population of Coventry Township is approximately 11,000 residents, and is comprised of
9.8 square miles.
Coventry Township is governed
by a three-member board of trustees and a township clerk who oversee the
operation of the Fire Department, Road Department, and Parks/Zoning
Inspector. Police Protection is provided by the Summit County
Sheriff. Portage Lakes State Park is
made up of all the lakes surrounding our community. The area is
named after the old Indian portage path which connects the Cuyahoga
River, which flows north to Lake Erie, and the Tuscarawas River which
flows south to the Ohio River.
The Coventry Local Schools consist of one high school
(grades 10 through 12), one junior high school (grades 8 and 9), one
middle school (grades 5 through 7), two elementary schools (grades 1
through 4), and one primary school (Pre-K through 4). Students at
the high school level may choose to attend the Portage Lakes Career
Center for vocational training in grades 11 and 12.
