8th Grade DC Payment Due

Traveling Classroom is still accepting payments ($150) for the Washington DC Trip in May. We are hoping to have a third bus, so if you pay by next Wednesday (11/22), you will be added to a waiting list until we reach 120 students. If we do not reach a third bus, your money will be returned to you. EarthEcho Expedition: Water by Design

Leading environmental education and youth leadership nonprofit EarthEcho International is bringing 26 U.S.-based middle school teachers from across the country on an exploration of water scarcity in Southern California. Led by explorer and environmental advocate Philippe Cousteau, Jr., EarthEcho Expedition: Water by Design takes place October 23-27, through the support of the Northrop Grumman Foundation. The initiative is part of EarthEcho Expeditions, an annual program that leverages the rich Cousteau legacy of exploration and discovery to bring STEM education alive for today’s 21st Century learners and their educators. Coventry Middle School Educator, Jim Trogdon, was selected from hundreds of applicants nationwide to participate alongside Cousteau and the EarthEcho team on EarthEcho Expedition: Water by Design.

College Credit Plus Information Night

On Thursday, November 2, 2017, the Coventry High School Counseling Department, along with The University of Akron, will host a College Credit Plus (CCP) Informational Night at 7:30 p.m. in the high school theater. CCP is available for students entering 7th – 12th grade who meet specific, rigorous academic criteria. This is a mandatory meeting for any student considering participation in CCP for the 2018-2019 school year. Criteria for acceptance, required forms, and application/program deadlines will be a few of the many things discussed at this meeting.

Please note: BOTH the student and a parent MUST attend this mandatory meeting. To verify your attendance, you will be required to sign an attendance sheet at the meeting location. For questions, please contact your child’s building school counselor.

Coventry Middle School and EarthEcho

Mr. Trogdon’s students, along with students from Cleveland Municipal School District, Akron School District, Woodridge Local School District, and Old Trail School will work alongside their teachers, Education Center staff, National Park Service rangers, and Cousteau Jr. for World Water Monitoring Day 2017. The day will focus on water testing, invasive species removal, and tree planting to restore and protect the water quality of the Cuyahoga River Watershed.
