Coventry Middle School
Mr. Shoemaker and Mr. England are leading a student group called Youth for Justice. Youth for Justice is a student-led program designed to encourage and empower youth to be actively engaged citizens who work together to make a positive difference in their community. The students identified a problem relevant to them and have developed a plan to make a positive difference. The middle school students have developed C.A.F.E. (Coventry Afternoon Fun & Entertainment) to provide students who would otherwise go home to an empty house or wander around with a positive, supervised alternative. They recruited teachers to volunteer their time to stay after school for two hours twice a week. They recently held their first C.A.F.E. and attracted more than 50 students!
