In the United States, the National Honor Society is the oldest and most prestigious honorary society open to high school students and is spoonsored by the National Asoociation of Secondary Shcool Prinicpals. Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Sevice are the principles of the society.
To become a member of National Honor Society, a student must be a junior or senior who has an accumulated grade point average of at least 3.5. This satisfies the prinicple of scholarship. A faculty selection committee reviews the applications considering the principles of character, leadership, and service.
NHS members meet once a month before and after school in room 313. Students are requried to participate in three service projects throughout the year. We are actively involved in the Veterans' Day Assembly, blood drives for the American Red Cross, and provide refreshments and work concessions for the music department's concerts.
